Howe Sound Biosphere Mandala

The Howe Sound ( Átl’ k a7tsem) Mandala was completed in 2022, and chronologically, it is #12 in this series. Its name commemorates the designation of Howe Sound, a 218,723 hectare ecosystem that is home to many species, as a protected UNESCO bioreserve. This area, 16% of which is ocean, is showcased by the Sea-to Sky highway connecting West Vancouver with Squamish, Whistler and Pemberton, the shared, unceded territory of the Lil'wat People . Bowen Island is included in this bioreserve. The devotional implications of this mandala are that nature is sacred and to be revered and protected. The original is four foot by four foot – acrylic on stretched canvas.
